Practice of INSET in Mathematics and Science Teachers and its Impact on Quality of Basic Education in Kenya

The paper presents success of an intervention on capacity development asimplemented in Kenya. This is a technical cooperation between JICA and Ministryof Education, Kenya. It is known as the Strengthening of Mathematics and Science in Secondary Education (SMASSE) that was launched in 1998 as pilotproject and expanded in 2003 to cover the whole country and has also been launched in a number of African countries
