Mapping Non-formal Education at Post-primary Educational level in Uganda

This desk study was based principally on the documents of education, agriculture, and health sectors and organized around the same. Non-Formal PPET policy provisions and implementation are weak in the education sector. Non-Formal PPET is extensively used to train agriculture development agents andhealth extension workers. The sponsor driven content in all three sectors isskills/profession oriented. One of principal trends is that NFE for out of schoolchildren has increased access to education. Some of the major challenges in the broader NFE are lack of: (1) political support and visibility, comprehensive policy elaboration; (2) resources, and (3) research, data/information. One ofthe policy implications is that government pays more attention to Non-FormalEducation (NFE).
